Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Chandler Michael Beck is a modern horn and natural horn specialist working as a freelancer, chamber musician, educator, and new music advocate. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Horn Performance with Departmental Honors from San José State University (2024). Chandler currently serves as second horn of the Golden Gate Park Band, having joined for his first season in summer 2025.

Chandler's playing can be heard in the critically acclaimed film "A Wounded Fawn," directed by Travis Stevens with music by VAAAL, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2022. He has since gone on to perform the national anthem at Super Bowl LX in San Jose alongside Charlie Puth and Sammy G as part of the Color of Noize Orchestra, and joined the California leg of Yandel's Sinfónico Tour, playing dates in Fresno and San Jose. Earlier in his career, he performed with the San Francisco Youth Orchestra, San Jose Youth Orchestra, California Pacific Youth Orchestra, Golden State Youth Orchestra, Santa Clara University's orchestra and wind ensemble, and San Jose New Ballet Company.

With over ten years of chamber music experience, Chandler is equally at home in woodwind quintets, brass quintets, and horn choirs. At San Jose State University, he served as principal horn of the Wind Ensemble, New Music Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Brass Ensemble.

In 2025, Chandler launched a commissioning series dedicated to new works for horn, in both solo and mixed chamber settings. His first commissions, from composers Andrea Gutierrez and Yuri Umemoto, will premiere in autumn 2026. He is also an active soloist in the Musical Meditations series, presented at the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption in San Francisco.

His travels have taken him across North America and Europe, including a performance at Carnegie Hall, and he has appeared as a soloist with wind ensemble, brass ensemble, and orchestra. Chandler is an alumnus of the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra (2025) and the Rafael Méndez Brass Academy (2025), and was recently awarded a fellowship with Bang on a Can (2026). His festival experience abroad includes PRISMA, the Mostly Modern Festival in the Netherlands, and the InterHarmony International Music Festival in Italy. A dedicated student of historical performance, he attended the Indiana University Natural Horn Workshop under Richard Seraphinoff in 2022, and won a lesson with historical horn pedagogue Anneke Scott through the Dunedin Consort.

Chandler's primary teachers are Elisha Wells and Caitlin Smith-Franklin at San José State University.
